Diabetes is a condition that causes the body to have trouble regulating the sugar levels in the bloodstream. In a healthy individual, the pancreas usually produces the insulin hormone that works to transport glucose molecules across the cell membranes and into cells for the production of energy.
In diabetic patients, depending on the form of diabetes they suffer from: Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, the body, is usually unable to produce insulin or is unable to utilize it sufficiently to maintain healthy levels of glucose in the bloodstream. That said, there are more than 100 million American adults that are currently living with either form of the disease.
Still, there are about 84 million individuals who are prediabetic and if caution isn’t taken, may end up with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes in the next five years. These statistics show the prevalence of diabetes in the United States alone yet the number keeps growing by the day. As such, there is more research being done by doctors and scientists to try and find solutions to the condition.
While there have been many possible solutions, once such a possible solution that has been growing in popularity is the use of CBD oil or other CBD-infused products. Cannabidiol, a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant, has been known to treat different kinds of ailments and is known to have a lot of health benefits.
How CBD Oils Helps in Diabetes
Cannabidiol has developed quite a reputation for itself in the treatment of many disorders and diseases. For diabetes, there are various ways that CBD products can be beneficial to the human body. To begin with, hemp oil can prevent the occurrence of diabetes in the first place. Research shows that people who have used hemp oil regularly had a fasting insulin level that was 16 percent lower than that of participants who had never used it.
Considering that most Type 2 diabetes patients usually have insulin resistance and high fasting insulin levels, using it over a period of time for prediabetic patients can help with the prevention of the disease. It also works to stabilize the blood sugar levels in the body and reduces the pain that is often associated with diabetes. This is usually caused by nerve inflammation known as neuropathy. The oil works by activating the receptors found in the both the brain and the body.
It also works as an anti-inflammatory compound that helps alleviate some known arterial inflammation that is usually common in many diabetics. Cannabidiol helps keep the blood vessels open and hence aids in improving blood circulation in the bloodstream. It also helps in the relief of gastrointestinal disorders and muscle cramping by acting as an anti-spasmodic agent. In addition, it aids in the gradual lowering of the blood pressure that is really essential for diabetic patients.
While it has plenty of health benefits associated with it, there is still a need for scientists to do more research and establish exactly how it impacts the body to inhibit some of the conditions or ailments.
